State Representative Johnny Rye (2nd from left) and Lance Whitney, Advocacy Director for Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance (middle), presented a check for $475 to Mrs. Lauren Sawyer and Mrs. Kristi Wilson. Mrs. Sawyer is our Food Pantry Coordinator, and Mrs. Kristi is our Backpack Program Coordinator. The money will go toward our food box program. Also pictured is Mrs. Julie Rye, Rep. Rye's wife.
We are so appreciative of Rep. Rye for making this opportunity available to our school and for our students.

Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield awarded Bay Elementary $2,500 to create a “Take Good Care Calming Room”. The school was recently named among 75 schools in the state to receive $2,500 to create a calming room, aimed at addressing the mental well-being of students.
The funding is part of Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s Take Good Care Calming Room initiative. According to state data, more than 14%, or 83,135 Arkansas children and teens, are dealing with anxiety and depression. Calming rooms are designed to give students who are feeling stressed or anxious a quiet place to reflect and refocus so they can perform their best when they return to the classroom.
Calming rooms often feature items such as:
• Soft lighting
• Tranquil colors
• Comfortable furniture
• Positive, inspirational messages
• Journals, coloring books and other sensory objects
“To mark Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s 75 anniversary this year, we wanted to do something that would make an impact on the health and well-being of young people in our state,” said Arkansas Blue Cross President and CEO Curtis Barnett. “What better way than to help 75 schools provide a safe space where their students can decompress and learn healthy coping skills that will last them a lifetime.”
Sara Doan, a reporter with KJNB Northeast Arkansas FOX and CBS in Jonesboro, was at Bay Elementary today to video an interview with Mrs. Christina Kammerer, Special Education Supervisor, about the grant.

We were proud to host our annual Veteran's Day ceremony. Thank you, Jeff Weir, for being the guest speaker.

District events for next week

Please join us in honoring our veterans.

Homecoming week is next week. Here are all the events for the district next week.

Due to certain provisions in the LEARNS Act, AMI days are no longer available to the Bay School District. Any days missed for winter weather must be made up on campus.

Thank you to Walmart store #128 on Parker Road for the $700 Community Grant. It will be used to create a teen lounge in Ms. Connie Givens's classroom. We also received a $1000 Community Grant from store #45 on Highland Drive. That grant is for Mrs. Rebeka Fisher's Sensory Glow Up project. We appreciate the support from our Walmart stores. By the way, Chester Cheetah is a Bay Alum, Travis Smith.

Next week is homecoming week. Attached is a flyer for the dress up days. Let's show our school spirit!

Each home basketball game will have a dress up theme. Here are the themes for the next several home games.
